Dorothy K. Dickol

October 18, 1924 ~ February 17, 2020 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Dorothy K. Dickol (“Dee”, “Dee Dee”), 95, of West Brandywine, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2020 at the Inn at Freedom Village.  She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Herman Dickol, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2016.

Born in Philadelphia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lillian Settar Klotz.

She graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1942, and from the Fashion Design program at Moore Institute of Art, Science and Technology in 1948.

Dorothy worked as a fashion designer for Laros Textiles in the late 1940s-early 50s.  It was there that she met her future husband, Ed, when he was an accountant performing the company’s audit. After their marriage, she left her job to focus on raising her family, and was a devoted mother to her two children.  As they grew, she was involved with their activities and served as Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, and PTA president.

She always continued with her art, and the home was filled with her paintings and crafts.  She especially liked to paint Santas, and would display over 500 of her Santas throughout the house at Christmas.  Once her children were older, Dorothy began selling her work and started her own company, Pinecraft by Dee.

She loved spending time with Ed, and together they spent time gardening, volunteering in the community, and travelling.  She especially enjoyed visiting their son in Austin, TX and their daughter in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

A breast cancer survivor, Dorothy was always able to see the good side of any situation, and her friends valued her sweet and happy demeanor.  She loved chocolate, and would happily eat it at every meal if she could.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Carol Dickol Revak (Nick), and John Edward Dickol; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and her sister, Lillian Frantz (Floyd).  She was predeceased by her brother, William Klotz.
