Gary J. Belonzi

Gary J. Belonzi, 68, of Royersford, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Penn Medicine Hospice at Chester County after a courageous battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Therese Donovan Belonzi, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in Beaver Falls, Pa, he was the son of Anna Fusco Belonzi and the late Charles Belonzi, Sr.

In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Tengwall and her husband Benjamin, and Christine Guzley; five grandchildren, Jack, Sadie, and Charlotte Tengwall and James and Leah Guzley; two brothers, Charles Belonzi, Jr. and his wife Dorothy and Jeffrey Belonzi and his wife Kathy; in-laws James Donovan and his wife Frances; sister-in-law Elizabeth Smith and her husband Shawn, and by several loving nieces and nephews.

Gary graduated from Ellwood City High School in 1970 and then received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1976.  He worked as an Account Executive and Sales Director for several enterprise system companies over the course of his more than 35-year career, most recently working as a Senior Knowledge Management Specialist for Upland RightAnswers.

Gary was an avid Steelers Fan, fisherman, and guitar player.  He enjoyed golf, travel and meals out with friends and family.  In his later years, Gary got the most joy out of his role as “Buddy” to his 5 grandchildren.  He spent countless hours playing indoor basketball, learning how to play video games, and creating trivia questions to delight his “minions” and “dudes” as he called them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Church, 100 Fellowship Drive, Chester Springs, Pa., followed by the interment in All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville.  All guests in attendance are asked to wear facial coverings and observe social distancing guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
