Jack (John Francis) Moran, Beloved husband of Susan Moran, Jack died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 21, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Jack was a proud Irish-American, whose love for the land of his birth and his adopted country were evident to all who knew him. Jack was a naturalized citizen of the United States, having been born in Dublin, Ireland on September 26, 1936 to James and Kathleen Keegan Moran. He emigrated from Ireland to Brooklyn, New York in 1957. He was blessed with good health for most of his life and remained active until quite recently. Jack was predeceased by his parents, brothers Frank and Jimmy and his sister, Margaret. He is survived by his sisters, Teresa Price (New York) and Breda Mullarkey (Dublin, Ireland).

Jack was the proud father of six children by Regina A. Malley: Christopher (Ann), Keith, Pamela Keller (Craig), Glenn (Nadine), Colleen Bernard (Wesley), Sean and stepfather to Daniel (Lynnette) McElaney. He loved his grandchildren Patrick Moran, Ian Moran, Katherine Moran, Mandy Moran, Nichole Akbar, Mathew Burkhardt, Joshua Moran, Kevin Moran, James Moran, Jessica Ambrogi, Dublin Moran and Pop Jack to Sarah, Andrew, and Carly McElaney. He was great-grandfather to Jada and Braden Moran, Miles Hardy, Cheron and Mozelle Akbar, Meadow Ambrogi, and Meara and Kanoa Mendiola. He loved his family deeply.

Jack spent most of his working life in the automotive industry, first working in New York City for General Motors Corp, then in automotive publishing for Motor Books (NYC) and in automotive catalog production and sales for Chilton Corporation, Datalog Division (Philadelphia and Radnor, PA). He was a partner in Broad Run Enterprises, ran his own successful business (Automotive Catalog Services) and retired as National Sales Manager for Motor Magazine in Detroit. Jack decided to go back to work as Sales Manager for Modesti Brothers Interiors and as Sales Manager for Scotts Lawn Care. One of his loves was gardening and his flower garden is admired by many.

Jack was an amateur boxer in Ireland but his love was playing and teaching soccer. He played in Ireland and in many adult leagues in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He coached at Immaculate Conception in Spotswood, NJ, Twin Valley High School in Elverson, PA and started the Soccer program at St. Joseph’s School in Downingtown, PA.

He will be remembered for his talent and love of music. There was hardly a time when the guitar was left behind and a song not ready for the audience at hand. Jack shared his music with multitudes over the years, especially as part of church choirs from Brooklyn, NY to Mohnton, PA and finally to St. Peter Church in West Brandywine, PA. He sang at many Irish Pubs throughout the years and was known for his beautiful voice. He was especially proud of his duet playing with his friend Wes. After moving to the Villages of Hillview, he was involved in musical productions as well as sing-alongs at Christmas.

No summary of one’s life such as this ever conveys the scope, influence, intensity and emotion of the life lived. And Jack’s was a life filled with all of those characteristics in abundance. He was fond of a good story and had many to tell, the ones about his own life and experiences being the best, coming over on the boat, learning the American pronunciation of his surname, why did his nose have a bend in it, how did he get the scars on his head and knees, drinking Guinness as directed by the doctor in Ireland, learning to play the guitar – there are many more. But he always liked to hear a good story, too. And when you had one to tell, he listened and enjoyed it as if it were his own.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2835 Manor Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320 starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2020.  The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 to 10:45 am.  Burial at All Souls Cemetery (Manor Road) following Mass.
