Mary E. Hines

Mary E. Singer Hines, 104, of West Chester, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Newport Meadows Nursing Home in Christiana.  She was the beloved wife of the late Charles W. Hines, Sr., who passed away in 1984.

Born on July 12, 1915 and was a life long resident of West Chester. She was the daughter of the late William F. Singer and the late Mary Smith Singer.  She was a 1933 graduate of West Chester High School.

Retiring in 1977, after 23 years of service, she had been a machine operator at Denney-Reyburn Tag Company.

She enjoyed reading and traveling, having gone on 34 cruises during her travels. She had visited Europe, United Kingdom, Alaska and many trips to Hawaii, Bermuda and the Caribbean Islands.

She is survived by her son, Charles W. Hines Jr. (late Mary Jo Hines), with whom she made her home for the past 30 years.

She was predeceased by her son William J. Hines, Sr., of West Chester. Two brothers, William J. (Bud) Singer of Lanham, Maryland and Lewis Singer, Sr., of West Chester. Also, a sister, Helen (Patty) Burnett of Minnesota.

She is also survived by 3 granddaughters, Diane, wife of Robert Jaszczak of Downingtown, Nancy Hines, wife of Kimberly Wickard of Gordonville, and Barbara, wife of Andrew Tillman of Downingtown.

Also, by 10 great grandchildren, 28 great, great grandchildren, and 3 great, great, great grandchildren.

She was very proud of having a 6-generation family.
